Welcome to the Official site for the Alaskan Wet Dog Race

This is the original logo design drawing that that was submitted by Matt Barendt and this is what we have based our logo on and what we have designed our trophy from. Matt did an amazing job of capturing what my vision was when I explained to him what I was hoping to have.

It got to a point where I decided that I needed to have a logo. I knew the name I wanted was going to be the Alaskan Wet dog Race and I knew I wanted to have a picture of a dog riding a watercraft and I wanted to have the State of Alaska in the background.

I called a lot of artists that I know and explained what I was looking for. No one could seem to come up with a logo that I was wanting that matched my vision.

One day a crane inspector showed up to inspect our cranes and lifting devices at the oil facility where I work. In the evening while we were having dinner I started telling him about my idea for the Wet Dog Race and I explained my vision of what I wanted to have as a logo. I jokingly asked him if he was an artist. He smiled and said, "Yes, I can draw a little". He started to sketch something at the dinner table and then stopped and said he would have to think about for a little while.

So we ended up calling it a night and I went bed. The next day He handed me this drawing that he had worked on that night and asked if that was what I was looking for.

I was and still am so impressed because it was exactly what I had envisioned and what I was looking for. I would like to say Thank you to Matt Barendt who lives in North Dakota for creating this awesome logo for me. Not only did he create the perfect logo but his drawing also provided me with the design for the trophy that we will be giving to the winners. Good Job Matt and THANK YOU for creating an awesome logo.
