Welcome to the Official site for the Alaskan Wet Dog Race

This is the Boat support page.

A lot of thought has gone into this part of the plan and I am adamant that we will not be able to put on this event without the help of support boats. It is our intention that with support boats that we can take any and all pressure off the Coast Guard letting them know that they are not going to be called out to rescue any of the stranded watercrafts.

What kind of support boats are we looking for? What we need is any kind that is ocean going vessels. They should be large enough to be able to take riders on board and tow watercrafts in should the watercrafts breakdown.

Alaska has a huge fishing industry and there are literally thousands of boats around the state and most of the checkpoints are fishing villages.

So while it is important that we get enough racers to race it is equally important that we get enough support boats interested, this first race is going to be toughest just trying to spread the word.

We are not asking people to support our race for free. Boats can be very expensive to operate. Therefore we will be paying accordingly depending on the size of the support boat and how far out they have to patrol from their port of harbor.

If you have a boat or know someone with a boat around our checkpoint areas please contact us and let us know what kind of rate you or they would be needing to able to make it worth their time to come out and help support our event.

The time frame is we are going to try to have the race around first part of May before any fishing season and or in September after all the fishing seasons.
